Point of Presence Technologies co-founder Don Millman has a simple formula for success: provide customers with dependable technology and excellent service so they can focus on their business rather than their networks. Five years ago, he and business partner Tobias Vlasblom joined forces to create a company based on that formula. Today, businesses have come to depend on PofP for reliable, responsive, leading-edge solutions.
Prior to PofP, Don’s career included working in a variety of sales development roles, both in his own ventures and within larger corporations. He founded N49 Technology Marketing, a consulting firm that created sales channels for launching technology products into the Canadian market.
Don is a successful CEO, but he doesn’t see himself in those lofty terms. To his employees and clients, he’s simply part of a team where everyone’s opinion is valued. “We hire people for who they are, their passion, their mind,” he says. “Everyone has a voice. We really mean that; if they’re not questioning things and sharing ideas, they’re not contributing.”
Don is well known for his ability to motivate by example; his hard work, passion, drive and enthusiasm have built a smart, confident, highly capable team that is evolving Point of Presence Technologies into an industry leader.
Don has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a co-specialization in Finance and Management Information Systems from the University of British Columbia.
Point of Presence Technologies co-founder Tobias Vlasblom finished his degree in engineering with a love of computers, a lot of technical knowledge, and a strong entrepreneurial streak. Not one to enjoy working for someone else, he started up TVT Services, a successful consulting firm specializing in wide area network design and network security.
After a number of years in consulting, he was looking to be part of a larger venture, so when his friend Don Millman approached him with the idea for PofP, he knew he’d found an exciting opportunity.
“Nobody was doing this kind of work,” he says. “There just wasn’t anyone around who could build and manage networks in an efficient way. With my technical background and Don’s business savvy, our combined skills were exactly what we needed to make our ideas a reality.”
Tobias leads PofP’s Vancouver office, which focuses on research and development. In addition to his technical abilities, he brings years of industry experience to the team; he has the unique ability to accurately identify both current and emerging industry trends to help the company and its clients stay on top of an ever-changing tech environment.
Tobias is a natural-born problem-solver. Give him a technical issue, and he’ll find an innovative, practical solution for it. It’s his strength, and it’s one of the reasons PofP is so good at both creating solutions that work for individual needs, and at troubleshooting any problems that might come up — quickly, efficiently and professionally.
Tobias has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from the University of British Columbia, along with multiple IT-related certificates and designations.
